Friday March 30 to Monday April 2 Easter Wild Waterfall Walk       Fully Booked

Friday- We meet at Rummery Park, walk along Blue Fig Road until we enter Rocky Creek, so named because it is a scramble up the most beautiful series of rocky cascades, waterfalls and crystal clear rockpools for its entire length. This is one of the best kept secrets of our local World Heritage rainforests in our Nightcap NP. We camp where Rocky Creek crosses Gibbergunyah Road.

Saturday- walk southwest along Gibbergunyah Road, then northwest along McKays Road which takes us past Protestor Falls, camping further along Terrania Creek.

Sunday- Scramble up to Gracies Crag, then join Wallace Road which leads into the Nightcap track. Walk east through Doon Doon saddle, camping near the flying fox site on the flanks of Mt Jerusalem.

Monday- Turn off the road up Mt Jerusalem at the site of an on mill that made roofing shingles from the casurina forest, head east across a sharp saddle with a narrow rock scramble that connects to Blackbutt Plateau. The Plateau was the scene of major protest in the '80's which ended logging. As well as the Blackbutt forest it is noted for the large expanses of snow lychen on the rocky part of the Plateau. We finish the walk by scrambling down the steep slope of the usual route to the Plateau, towards Mill Road.

The Club travels all over the World looking for great walks, yet here is one of the World's best right in our own backyard. Grade 4, Steve 0414 312 917 millard.stephen@gmail.com

By reading several meditations and walking some sections in silence, the aim of the walk is to become at one with the World Heritage Nightcap rainforest. The highlight of the day is walking through a deep, narrow chasm, complete with its own waterfall, lunching on the clifftop overlooking Wanganui Gorge and returning through an overgrown trail that often has Albert Lyrebirds calling.
