Sunday July 1   3 Falls walk Nightcap NP  Fully Booked

Meet at Minyon Grass. Descend to the bottom of Minyon Falls, then on to Quondong Falls and a scrub bash across to Boomerang Falls. Approx. 6km, Grade 3. We will need to do a car shuffle. Leader Steve 66840378  millard.stephen@gmail.com

 

Tuesday July 3  Social Ride at Ballina 

Meet at Sharpes Beach for a 22 km flat ride on designated cycleways. Coffee break in Ballina and optional lunch at the Lighthouse Beach Cafe on completion. Leader Gail 0421 281722

 

Saturday July 7 Lismore Casino Circuit Cycling  

Starting from South Lismore, along Kyogle Road for 14kms, up Naughtons Gap (slow steady climb) before an easy downhill/flat ride into Casino for coffee, then back towards Lismore along flat quiet roads, mostly between cane fields. The ride joins the Bruxner Highway at Parrots Nest for a 10km cycle back into Lismore, for the most part with a shoulder to ride on. This is not intended to be a fast ride, but an easier longer ride for anyone wanting to cycle a bit further than normal. The ride is 76kms 490m. Leader Rick 0409 768015

 

Sunday July 8 Tuntable Falls Nightcap National Park  Fully Booked

A pleasant walk down through rainforest from Mt Nardi, all on track, to a T intersection where we turn right. A short distance on we again turn right and follow a closed track to the creek - will involve some bush bashing following an overgrown track to the top of the falls, returning the same way. Saturday July 14 Rocky Creek Nightcap National Park

Walk from Nightcap Range Rd west down Rummery Rd, cross the concrete causeway at Rocky Ck until an old logging track on the left. Head south along the traces of the track until we reach Rocky Ck again. Follow the creek on west side where the creek opens into a large crescent shaped lagoon, cross the creek on the south end of the lagoon and return north on the east side. Follow the creek upstream back to the causeway. There are spectacular rock formations, waterfalls, pools, cascades along here. If time we will go upstream from the causeway and back - more nice cascades etc. Back east along Rummery Rd to cars. Some bush bashing and slippery rock scrambling required. Saturday July 14  Lap of Ballina Island  Kayak

The objective is to complete a full lap of Ballina Island but wind, tides and waves can necessitate changes. We will aim to start from the “markets beach” just south of Missingham Bridge. Then paddle anti clockwise up North Creek and along North Creek Canal back to the river, but we may decide to vary this on the day. Distance 10-12 klms with grade medium.  Leaders Winston & Heike. Sunday July 15 Cycling Woodburn to New Italy return

Meet at Woodburn at  8.15 am for coffee in the picnic area near the visitor centre on the banks of the Richmond River before driving to the start of the ride at the junction of Swampy Creek Rd and Woodburn Coraki Rd. We cycle along Swampy Creek Rd to Swan Bay and onto the New Italy Road and then cycling to the Mountain Bike Technical Tracks. We will complete quite a few of the tracks before cycling to New Italy for brunch. Option not to go on the technical tracks but cycling along the forestry roads and all joining up at New Italy. We will then return to Woodburn via Moonem New Italy and Reardon Roads. Total road distance 42 km with 200m elevation.  Leader Ian 0459 496194

 

Sunday July 15 ’Three Tops’ Wollumbin NP  Short Notice

These peaks around 600 m high are located about 3 km north of Mt Warning in the Tweed Valley.  Access will be through private property, starting from Carilla Place, off Tyalgum Rd, about 14 km west of Murwillumbah.  The walk will be mainly off-track, with some steep sections on rocky outcrops and a significant amount of pushing through scrub. The last section is also quite steep (& slippery if it is wet &/or mossy) down Hidden valley Rd.  The rewards are great views (Tweed Valley & Springbook etc to the north, Mt Warning up close to the south), variety of vegetation and an energetic workout! Sunday July 22 Bungawalbin Creek Kayak  Short Notice

Some people like winding country roads and some prefer long straight freeways. If you are the country road type then secluded and peaceful Bungawalbin Creek will no doubt find a place at the top of your list of favourite paddling destinations. We will be launching from the Moonem Boat Ramp on Bungawalbin Whiporie Road, a little over 1 kilometre west of its intersection with the Moonem New Italy Road. The GPS coordinates for the ramp are 29° 5' 50.0" S, 153° 12' 59.9" E. The plan is to paddle around 5 kilometres upstream where we can have morning tea (BYO) on a sandy bank before returning. Walk from Broken Head to Snapper Rock for morning tea and walk back along Seven Mile Beach Road. Total distance is about 6 km, grade 3, lots of rock hopping and slight height exposure. Low tide is 0.3m at 9:45 am. Picnic lunch at Broken Head.      Leader Ruth D 0427 846372  

 

Saturday July 28 Christies Creek Mooball NP

Mooball NP is south of Murwullumbah. Christies Creek is in a lovely rainforest valley nestled in the schlerophyll hills of the Burringbah Range. We park off Cooradilla Road at the start of a fire trail (Baranbali Road) We walk east on the fire road and then branch off north on a ridge that descends to Christies Creek. We rockhop up the very pretty creek, heading south-westerly. Lunch by a sparkling pool. Up scramble out of the valley to Cooradilla Road then back to the cars. There is a possibillity of getting your boots wet.

Monday July 30 Short n Easy walk Coastal Recreational Path to Ballina

This easy walk starts at Sharpes Beach carpark, Skennars Head. We will walk south along the Coastal Recreational Path which features, at regular intervals, interpretive signage recognising the Aboriginal cultural values of this iconic coastline.  At the south end of Angels Beach, we will follow the National Trust Heritage Walk. There will be a car shuffle.  Coffee at The Belle General cafe. Grade 1 Distance  4.5 km.
