Saturday July 20 Hell Hole Falls Mt Jerusalem NP
A walk along Rolands Creek. We start at the end of Middle Range Road Jerusalem NP, walk down a fire trail, and then 'bush scramble' to Rolands Creek. We walk downstream, go up a side creek to the bottom of a waterfall near Nunga road, there are plenty of pools. We go upstream to the base of Hell Hole Falls. We scramble steeply uphill to the top of the falls where there is a local popular swimming hole. We then continue uphill on the fire trail to return to our start. Some bush bashing and slippery rock scrambling required. Distance 9km Grade 4 Map Burringbar Leader Tom 0413398395
Saturday July 20 Leaning Peak, Mt Barney via Long Leaning Ridge (grade 7; full day):
This ridge is extremely airy, requiring careful scrambling and climbing near precipitous drops. Long Leaning Ridge starts near the junction of Mt Barney and Barney Gorge Creeks at 690 738. Meet at Lower Portals carpark at 5.00 am, having previously organised a car shuffle to Barney Lodge (our preferred exit point). Walk into Barney Gorge campsite and the start of Long Leaning Ridge. After a steep ascent to the where the ridge flattens out lies the first rock climbing crux. This ridge is then followed until Leaning Peak is reached. Depending on the time and conditions, once we’re at the intersection of Short and Long Leaning ridges we will either ascend Leaning Peak (where another rock climbing crux exists), abseil down the east side of Leaning Peak, scramble over to North Pinnacle & descend North Ridge to the awaiting car/s at Barney Lodge or downclimb Short Leaning ridge and end up back at the Lower Portals carpark. A belay rope is strongly recommended on this ridge. ln any event a 50m abseil rope is required to descend off Leaning Peak towards North Peak. Helmet, harness, abseiling gear obviously required.

Sunday July 21 - Paddle Jerusalem Creek
Jerusalem Creek has the perfect blend of accessibility and isolation. A well equipped and convenient launching pontoon deep inside the Bundjalung National Park makes it something close to heaven for the nature loving paddler. The GPS co-ordinates for the pontoon are 29 deg 14' 44.4" S, 153 deg 22' 2.1" E. The plan is to paddle to where the Creek meets the ocean and back. Distance 9 klms, grade easy. Trip organiser Scott will be staying at Black Rocks campground the night before. There will be space around the campfire if you would like to join him. As an added bonus for this adventure, we will be treated to a pre paddle creekside performance by Lissa-Kathe on the 36 string concert lever harp. Be sure to arrive early for that.

Sunday July 21 Mt Hobwee Walk – 13km return, 800m vertical ascent. About 8 hours. Grade 4. FULLY BOOKED
At 1164m, Mt Hobwee is higher than Mt Warning (1156m). This full day trip will start at the Numinbah Gap border gate (417m). It’s mostly uphill all the way there which means downhill all the way back! Whilst there are no views from Mt Hobwee we will have spectacular views along the way from Wagawn, Warumblebah lookout and Darrayabroo lookout. We will pass by Bushrangers cave and you will discover that this is a back route into Lamington National park (O’Reilly’s and Binna Burra). Its winter so this will get you warm. Having said that it can be icy up there if it is windy and you will cool down at lunch so bring a warm jumper and wind & waterproof jacket, and a beanie won’t go astray. Bring lunch and 2L of water. There are some quite steep sections. Meet in Murwillumbah and carpool from there. Leader Lucy Baker (Cranitch) – 0420664631, lucy.baker@path2u.com.au

Sunday July 28 - Wilsons River: Eltham to Boatharbour
More often than not, the best way to find out what makes a region tick is to ask the locals where they like to go in their spare time. For people from Lismore to Ballina, Byron Bay and beyond, a popular answer to that question is "Eltham". We will be launching from the riverbank at the corner of Eltham and Johnston Rds in Eltham ( GPS 28 deg 45' 19.6" S, 153 deg 23' 42.4" E. ) We paddle from there to Boatharbour bridge after car shuffling. Please note there is some moving water and a possibility of scraping your boat on a few rocks. Distance 22 klms, grade hard. Afterwards, we will have lunch at the convivial Eltham Hotel. If there is not enough flow in the river, an alternative paddle route will be considered. Scott will provide more info on that if the need arises. Leader Scott R.
