February 3 to 8, Walls of Jerusalem, Tasmania, Grade 4, maximum 6 FULLY BOOKED
The Walls of Jerusalem area is a spectacular labyrinth of alpine lakes and tarns, dolerite peaks, ancient but fragile forests of Pencil Pines and unique alpine vegetation. It is arguably one of the most beautiful places in Australia, with its classic Tasmanian rugged and jagged wildness. We’ll spend 5 days in this wilderness. The exact track is still being worked through.
To be eligible for this walk, you must have 1) reasonable thru-hike / pack-walking experience, 2) good fitness and 3) a gear setup suitable to -2 degrees Celsius.

Sunday February 9 Minyon Falls Circuit Nightcap NP POSTPONED TO FEBRUARY 16 !!!!!
We will meet at the Minyon Falls Car Park before travelling to Minyon Grass where we start our walk. We descend to the base of Minyon Falls where we will stop for morning tea. Some rock scrambling will be necessary. We then retreat to the crossing of Repentance Creek which is made by rock hopping. A delightful rainforest walk ensues with a slow climb eventually ending up on the top of Quondong Falls. Here we will have lunch. We return via the cliff top to Minyon Falls where hopefully there will be enough vehicles left to transport us the short distance to Minyon Grass. Here we will enjoy an afternoon tea. Walkers normally bring a plate of something to share, biscuits are fine, and a thermos of hot water to make a beverage or a flask of a cold drink. Please bring a picnic chair. It will be a hot day no doubt, so everyone must bring 2 litres of water with sufficient food for the walk. Sturdy walking boots will be worn. If you are unsure whether your footwear will be acceptable, contact Ian beforehand. Map Huonbrook Distance 10-12 km. Grade 2 Leader Ian 0459496194
February 10 to 14, Tarkine Rainforest, Tasmania, Grade 5-6, maximum 8 FULLY BOOKED
So inspired by the magical, misty world of the Tarkine Rainforest from the club’s last Tarkine adventure, this leader wants to do it all again! While we in the Northern Rivers enjoy rainforests, there’s nothing quite like the enchanted mossy wonderland of the Tarkine. The strong smell of myrtle, the vividness of the bright green moss, the twistiness of the ancient trees and the purity of the rushing waters can kind of get into your system.
This is a very physically challenging pack walk, with wild river crossings in high, cold rivers, scrambling and steep climbing in often cold and rainy conditions, even in February.
To be eligible for this walk, you must have 1) very sound off-trail thru-hike / pack-walking experience, 2) excellent fitness and 3) a submersible waterproof gear setup suitable to -2 degrees Celsius.

Wednesday February 26 to Tuesday March 17 2020 NZ Cycling Itinerary FULLY BOOKED
The event starts on 26th February at noon at Auckland Airport where we collect a 12-seater minibus and bike carrier from Maugers Rentals. It is anticipated that all participants will take a turn at driving. Copies of driving licences will be needed to be sent over before the trip. The option is to bike hire from Natural High at the airport who will also store the cycle boxes from Australia for those who ride their own bike. The cost of hiring is $335 for the 20 days. The bike recommended is an Avanti Discovery 3.
After picking up the vehicles and bikes, we drive to Paihia in the Bay of Islands. The stay here for three nights has optional activities including a cruise, a cycle to Waitangi Treaty Grounds followed by a walk to Haruru Falls, or a walk or cycle on Russell Island. We then cycle to the west coast on the Twin Coast Cycle Trail via Horeke and a ferry to Rawene. Then it's part of the Kauri Coast Cycleway to Dargaville via the Waipoua Forest. From Dargaville, we drive to Thames, staying four nights, where we cycle the Hauraki Rail Trail and do some sight-seeing/walking in the Coromandels. We then move on to Rotorua for two nights where the Thermal Trail will be enjoyed by all. The next trail is The Timber Trail which will last for two days and we will stay for one night at the Timber Trail Lodge. Staying three nights in Turangi, we hope to walk the Tongariro Crossing if weather permits, regarded by many as the best one day walk on the planet. Our last two nights (with a visit to Taupo on the way) will be spent closer to Auckland at the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park near the black sand beach where we will continue with some walking or cycling before returning to the airport on March 17th.
