Three days notice must be given to the Leader if you want to participate in any of the events.

Friday October 16 to Thursday October 22 Cycling in Brisbane Fully Booked

The majority of cycling will be on cycle tracks which will be suitable for all types of bikes. We will stay in reasonably priced airbnb accommodation in the Manly area on the nights of October16-18. On the nights of October 19-21 we will be staying in the Sandgate area. Ron will lead the cycles out of Manly. Ian will lead the rest. The proposed itinerary follows:

Friday Travel to Manly

Saturday Ron will lead a cycle south of Manly

Sunday Ron will lead a cycle north from Manly to the city and return by train.

Monday We will travel to Breakfast Creek in the morning and cycle to South Bank before returning to the cars before heading to our accommodation in the Sandgate area.

Tuesday Cycle from Sandgate to Deception Bay and back

Wednesday Cycle via Nudgee Beach and the wetlands to the Kedron Brook Cycleway. Return the same way

Thursday Pack up and drive to a suitable parking spot near the Brisbane River Cycleway Loop and cycle this loop before heading off back home.

Saturday October 17 Shaws Bay to Lennox Head

Walk Shaws Bay, Ballina to Lennox Head – past Boulder, Sharpes, Angels, Shelleys, Lighthouse beaches and over 2 headlands. There is a rocky section at Boulder Beach – bring walking poles for this section if you wish. 12 km Grade 1-2. Group size limited to 16. Meet at Lennox Head to catch 4.05pm bus to Shaws Bay ($2.50 concession; $5 adult). At the end of the walk, we will have dinner at Lennox Bowls Club (optional). Contact Jenny jbcobden@gmail.com


Saturday October 17 - Kayak - Sandon River

This is a popular paddle with members as it's an opportunity to camp at beautiful Brooms Head and enjoy some social time too. The paddle will be on the Sandon River that winds it's way through the Yuragir National Park. Options to explore Toumbaal & Candole Creek. Chance for paddlers to have the “optional extra” stopoff on the southern shore near our launch site, for a relaxing walk through the fascinating Sandon village. To finish off the day join in with the now obligatory dinner at the Bowlo! Distance - 20km Grade - Medium.
